Learning to Heal · What you learn
Three ways of helping with energy
Please note: the workshops are currently held in German only. I plan to offer workshops in English at a later date. If you would like to learn this and organize a workshop in English yourself, you are welcome to send an inquiry to [email protected].
Giving your own strength, drawing energy from outside, or being there without giving anything. In the workshop you practice the third way, and here is why.
Learning to Heal · three ways
If you want to help, you think of giving first. I don’t give energy. I look at why the other person’s energy isn’t working right now.
There are three ways of being there for a person with energy. Two of them put something in. The third gives nothing and lets the other person find their own strength. It is this third way you practice in the workshop.
If you want to help, you think of giving first
I too used to work differently than I do today, with energy that I passed on. At some point I noticed that it no longer felt right. After that I only observed for a long time and only started working again once I had understood what was happening. The division into three ways comes from this observing. I described them the same way in two interviews, independently of each other.
Why giving your own strength weakens you
In the first way, the helper takes their own life force and gives it to another person. That costs them something. If they do it often, they lose strength and over time become weaker themselves. To me that makes no sense.
Rico’s words
To me it makes no sense to help people and to get into problems yourself as a result.
Rico Brunner
It isn’t ideal for the person who receives the energy either. What they receive is not their own energy.
Rico’s words
The person who receives energy receives energy from a person that isn’t their own energy, even though it’s well meant. This energy helps in the short term but can’t be processed 100% properly.
Rico Brunner
What happens when the energy comes from outside
In the second way, the helper doesn’t give their own strength. They draw energy from somewhere and pass it on. There are many techniques for this. The helper loses nothing in the process. For the person who receives it, though, it remains foreign energy. It strengthens them for a while. Once it is used up, it is no longer there.
How you are there without giving anything
The third way is the one I work with. I don’t give any energy of my own. I look at why the other person’s energy isn’t working right now, and I am there for them. Whatever happens, happens in their own field, with their own strength.
You know the image for this from everyday life:
Rico’s words
You can imagine it like when you yourself get an incredible fit of laughter, laugh out loud from the heart, and begin to infect the other person with your laughter.
Rico Brunner
Whoever is infected doesn’t laugh your laugh. They laugh their own. Nothing passes between two energy fields. What is calm and strong in you can set off something of their own in the other person, not a copy of you. The first two ways work differently:
Rico’s words
that would be like actively trying to tell someone a joke so that they start laughing heartily. That works sometimes, but sometimes it doesn’t.
Rico Brunner
With a joke you bring something to the other person, and it has to fit. With contagious laughter the reaction arises in the other person themselves.
You have long known the oldest way
The third way is nothing special. It is the most everyday of all. A child has hurt itself, the mother takes it in her arms and is simply there for it. She has no technique and gives no energy. This mostly happens unconsciously. I do it consciously and deliberately, and in the workshop you practice the same.
Much of what does people good belongs to this third way: bodywork, a good massage, yoga, time in nature, meditation with your attention on yourself. These things don’t put anything into you. They calm and leave room for your own balancing.
How much foreign energy a field can tolerate
Every energy field carries a small share of foreign energy, in my observation around three to five percent. A field copes well with that. If the share becomes much larger, your own field is thrown into disorder.
The difference between touch and feeding in is important. If you lay your hand on someone’s shoulder, you transfer nothing. It only becomes problematic when someone deliberately puts energy into a field, over a short or longer period. How much it then harms a field depends on how strong it is.
Why no energy flows in the workshop
There are two reasons for this, and both count. The first concerns you: energy you give is then missing for you. The second concerns the other person: they can only become strong in the long run with their own energy.
In my work, therefore, I provide at most a piece of information. The energy field notices it and decides for itself whether to take it in. I never tell a field how it should be.
For you this means something different depending on your situation. If you have little strength right now, you shouldn’t give it away. If you have built up a lot, you keep it, because you give nothing away. And if you want to work with others one day, you learn from the start a way that won’t wear you out even after many years.
Questions that come up often
- Do you give me energy?
- No. I don’t give energy and I don’t send any. I look at what isn’t working in your field right now, and I am there.
- Do I lose strength myself when I help?
- Not if you give nothing. That is exactly what you practice in the workshop: being there, staying with yourself, transferring nothing. How this works is described under Laying on hands without transferring energy.
- Is a touch already a transfer?
- No. When you touch someone, an encounter takes place. Something is only transferred when someone deliberately puts energy in.
- What if I do give something unconsciously after all?
- We pay attention to that together in the workshop. The person lying down checks whether the other is giving energy, and the person standing makes sure not to give any. More under Laying on hands without transferring energy.
What is meant by the word in the workshop’s name is described under What the name of the workshop means.
