Where my knowledge of energy fields comes from

How do I know what I tell you about energy fields? Not from a book. When I started, there was no book that described energy fields the way I saw them. So I looked, for years, and only worked once I had understood what I saw.

Research · my path

I often just looked at energy fields for months before I worked on them. Everything I know today grew out of these observations.

Here I tell you how that went, what I saw along the way and where I was wrong.

The question that would not let me go

As soon as I began working with people, a question stood in front of me. Why are some people doing well and others not, sometimes in the same situation?

Two men flip their car on the highway. Both come out physically unharmed. One of them cannot find his way back to himself for years afterward. The other climbs out and even finds the whole thing exciting. This example is no proof; the second one likes riding roller coasters anyway. But it shows what I was looking for: two people experience the same thing in the same second, and things go on completely differently for them.

“I built my whole work on this question.”

Rico Brunner

The question does not only belong to hard times. It is also behind why someone goes through a stormy phase without losing their footing, and why another keeps growing precisely when everything is calm. Over time I saw that neither the situation nor the behavior makes the difference. What matters is how the energy field is able to respond to a situation.

There were no books, so I looked

About energy fields as I look at them, there was no knowledge I could have relied on. I had to work with what I saw. When I was young, I read the collected works of C. G. Jung. What shaped me was less his answers than the way he asked.

I never wanted to become a researcher. I wanted to understand why some people are not doing well and what I need to work on. That I was doing research in the process, I only noticed years later.

“I only noticed over the years that I had been doing research, because doing research was not important to me. What was important to me was solving the problem.”

Rico Brunner

What drove me all those years was neither curiosity nor talent. I did not want to give up before I had understood how people get something out of it that lasts.

The day my research began

A woman came to me because she found it hard to set boundaries. I explained to her exactly what happens in the energy field when this is the case. She understood everything. Three, four weeks later it was the same as before.

So I looked more closely. I saw parts of her energy field that grasped at nothing as soon as she wanted to change something. They ran like an engine idling. The knowledge never even arrived where it was needed.

That day it became clear to me that energy fields that don’t function make up much more than I had assumed until then. Explaining alone is not enough then. I had to understand how an energy field functions.

“And that was really the birthday, or the hour of birth, of the research.”

My path in stages

My research path. The stages without a year cannot be dated exactly; they follow one another in this order.

Until about sixteen I thought my perception was ordinary. Then I noticed that many people perceive differently from me. That amazed me. For a long time I did not talk about it, because no one around me talked about energies. As a young man I perceived a lot and interpreted much of it wrongly. My perception only became stable in my early twenties. Then I quickly saw where people’s problems lay, and in 1998 I founded my practice.

Back then I still worked the way many do: I transferred energy. At some point that no longer felt right to me. But I did not yet know how else it could be done, and I had searched in vain. So I told the few clients I had at the time: You can keep coming, but I will only observe your energy field until I have found out how I can work differently.

“And out of this decision to do nothing, which was one of the best decisions of my life, the whole thing actually came about.”

Rico Brunner

From then on, I only worked on a spot once I had understood it. Some connections cost me a hundred, two hundred or three hundred hours of observation, the most difficult ones over twenty years.

For a long time I did not write this down. I have a photographic memory for energy fields, and the amount of impressions was greater than a person can note down in a day. That is why there was only a model of my work in 2026, when I began to describe Energyology.

What I had to give up along the way

Observing also means saying goodbye to something when it is not right. I left four things behind along the way.

1

Transferring energy

Before: A field seems weak, so I give energy.

For a short time it really did become stronger. It did not last. Today I no longer send energy, see No foreign energy.

2

Interpreting too early

Before: interpreting a lot, observing little.

That often led to misinterpretations. Today it is the other way around: almost everything is observation, the conclusions only a small part. More on this under How I observe.

3

What I already knew

Before: seeing what I already believed I knew.

What I had learned about energies, I had to switch off while observing. Otherwise you adjust what you see to your own philosophy.

4

A lot at once

Before: working one day, then observing for 30 days.

The energy field could not keep up with that. Today in The Field I work a little every day, as little as possible and in the right place. How I arrived at this is described under What I have observed.

An experience-based model, not a laboratory

Hardly anyone can measure what I see. There is no device for it, the way there is an X-ray machine for bones. My measuring instrument is my perception, and it had to be shaped over decades. Anyone who wanted to verify my observations would need perception at least as good. Anyone who is skeptical therefore has every reason to be, and I think skepticism is good.

That is why I call Energyology an experience-based model and not a scientific model. Even so, I keep checking what I have found out, not once, but again with every piece of work. How that works, I describe on the page How I observe.

Questions that come up often

How do you know that what you see is right?
I observe a spot from many directions. Only when the result is confirmed again and again do I assume that I have understood it. After that I check it again with every piece of work. More under How I observe.
Is Energyology scientifically proven?
No. Energyology is an experience-based model. It describes what I have observed in almost three decades, and it has not been tested in a laboratory.
Did you get your knowledge from books?
No. About energy fields as I look at them, there were no books. My knowledge comes from observations. What I had read, I even had to consciously set aside while observing.
Why did you not write anything down for so long?
I have a photographic memory for energy fields. There were too many impressions to note them down. Since 2026 I have been describing the model in the Energyology section.
Are you still doing research?
Yes. I don’t think I will ever stop. What I am working on right now is described under What I am researching today.

Where to go next

How I observe and where the traps lie is described under How I observe. What has become of these observations for my work, you will find in the section How I work.
