The “Learning to Perceive” workshop
Please note: the workshops are currently held in German only. I plan to offer workshops in English at a later date. If you would like to learn this and organize a workshop in English yourself, you are welcome to send an inquiry to [email protected].
Two days about intuition. Most of the practice happens in pairs, and what you learn is less sensing than asking questions. What happens on the two days and who they are meant for.
Workshop · Learning to Perceive
For me, intuition doesn’t begin with sensing. It begins where you can clearly name and distinguish what you perceive.
That’s what we practice for two days, mostly in pairs. After each exercise you spend two minutes with yourself before the next one begins.
What these two days are about
You already perceive how other people are doing. Everyone does. The open question is whether you do it consciously and whether you can distinguish what you perceive. That’s what this workshop is about.
Rico’s words
The goal of the two days is to expand your perception, your stability, the way you deal with your intuition, and not to restrict it. So not with rules about what you may and may not do, but more about how you can develop the whole thing.
Rico Brunner, workshop
Sensing itself is the precondition here, not the content. I learned most of my own perception. Above all, I learned to ask the right questions. That is exactly what we practice.
Why I don’t give you twenty rules
Many people come hoping for clear rules. Rules give a feeling of safety. I deliberately don’t give them.
Rico’s words
That means I could give you 20 rules for intuition now, and you could simply learn them and apply them. And that gives a kind of feeling of control. I do the opposite. I take away a bit of your control and lead you a bit toward a point where you are forced to observe more and interpret less.
Rico Brunner, workshop
With ready-made rules
- you quickly know what to do
- you apply what others have found out
- the rule interprets for you before you have looked closely
With your own questions
- you put up with not knowing for a while
- you observe longer and interpret later
- you look for what you have missed
That is uncomfortable at the beginning. If you are looking for safety, you get less of it here at first. I don’t offer entertainment in the exercises.
Why the workshop begins with you and not with perception
Before we perceive anything in others, we practice being with ourselves. It is the same basic exercise as in the “Learning to Heal” workshop. The two workshops used to be one. I separated them because intuition has become a big topic and there was too little time for both.
Rico’s words
So to sum up, you can say the strength doesn’t lie in perception, the strength lies in us being with ourselves. And because we are with ourselves, and the more we are with ourselves, the clearer perception becomes and the more perception changes too.
Rico Brunner, workshop
Perception is only the way in for impressions. They are processed in stability. So perceiving more is not automatically better. If you take in more than you can process, you are overwhelmed.
I like to compare it with two people who practice for two years. One works only on their stability, the other only on their perception. Afterwards the first one perceives better. Their foundation is bigger, so they can sense more and also process it. More about the basic exercise under Being with yourself, more about standing firm under Solid ground instead of a swamp.
How the two days go
On the first day you perceive in pairs and write down what you perceive in the other person. You keep what you wrote to yourself. After that we practice distinguishing more precisely. On the second day we go through an energy field from top to bottom, and this time you share what you have perceived.
At the end I ask a question that goes beyond the workshop: how much truth can a person bear? If you perceive something, you have to decide what you say about it.

The people in this workshop bring very different things with them. Some have their own practice. Some have worked with other methods for a long time, including channeling. Others are hearing about energy fields for the first time. You don’t need any prior training.
Their reasons differ too. Some are in a time when they perceive a great deal and can hardly sort out what of it belongs to them. Some want to be able to trust their gut feeling better in everyday life, in the family or at work. Others want to develop their perception further, perhaps also in order to work with other people one day. Often it is several things at once for one person.
The group mustn’t be too small. In my experience the workshop doesn’t work with four participants, because after an hour everyone knows each other too well.
When you don’t perceive anything
It happens, and it isn’t a mistake. If you strain, you are with the straining. Only when you are with yourself is someone at home who can look.
Rico’s words
If you can’t perceive anything, that’s okay. Don’t put yourselves under pressure. Don’t strain, relax. Compare it to watching TV.
Rico Brunner, workshop
Sometimes it helps to close your eyes and pay attention to how it feels instead of wanting to see something. Some people have also told me only half a year after the workshop that they now understand what I meant. More on this under When you don’t perceive anything.
Date and registration
The next date for “Learning to Perceive” has not been set yet. As soon as it is, you will find it with the price and the registration on the website rico-brunner.com. Each workshop has between 15 and 40 participants. The workshops are held in German.
Questions that come up often
- Can I actually learn intuition?
- Yes. Most of my own perception is learned. Above all, you learn to ask the right questions. How far you get depends more on practice than on talent. More under A craft, not a gift.
- Do I have to attend “Learning to Heal” first?
- No. Both workshops begin with the same basic exercise. You can start with either one. More under Where you can start.
- Do I have to sense a lot to take part?
- No. Sensing a lot and distinguishing well are not the same thing. Some people who sense little deal with their intuition very well. More under What intuition is.
- Will I be told what the others perceive in me?
- Not on the first day. Whatever someone writes down, they keep to themselves. On the second day the others share what they perceived on three questions, and you give feedback. More under When to say what you perceive.
- What if I’m just imagining everything?
- Many people know the feeling of imagining things at the beginning. It shows that you haven’t practiced enough yet, not that your perception is wrong. More under Learning to distinguish.
- What does the workshop cost?
- The price is on the website.
You’ll find more answers under Frequently asked questions. How things continue after the workshop is explained under Keep practicing at home.
