How a session works

Please note: personal sessions, in person, by phone and by video (Zoom), are held in German only.

First I look at your energy field as a whole, then step by step from top to bottom, then we turn to your questions. Behind every conversation, with me, there is the same sequence.

Understanding the session · the sequence

From the outside, a session looks like a conversation. Behind it, with me, there is the same sequence every time.

First the overview of your whole energy field. Then step by step from top to bottom. Then your questions. What you make of it is up to you.

What you need before the session

Almost nothing. I need no documents, no medical findings and no background story to look at your energy field. If a question is on your mind, you can think about it beforehand. But you don’t have to. If you come without a question, I look at your field as a whole and explain to you how it looks right now.

For a phone session, I call you at the agreed time. If the session before runs longer, there may be a slight delay. Please arrive on time at the practice in St. Gallen. How to get an appointment is described under Appointments and contact. How long a session lasts and how billing works is described under One session, three forms.

You don’t need to prepare anything. If you like, write down your questions so that you don’t forget anything in the session. What I need for the session, I see in your energy field.

At the start, you choose the way

When we begin, I ask you how you want to start. There are two ways, and both are right.

You talk first

You describe what is on your mind. I listen and look at what I see in the energy field about it. What you tell me shows me how you experience something.

I look first

I look straight at your energy field and tell you what I see. Without a background story and without you having to explain anything first.

Both ways lead into the same conversation. If you like to talk, you talk. If you would rather hear first what I see, you let me begin. For my reading, it makes no difference, because I see in the field where something comes from.

Why I look at the whole field first

When I choose how to begin, I don’t start with your question, but with the whole field. I still take your question seriously. I first want to see where in the field the most is blocked and where the causes lie.

Rico’s words

So what matters first, when you look at the energy field, is that you have an overview, and then you try to identify where the problem lies, and then you begin the process of asking questions.

Rico Brunner, workshop

The reason is simple. You tell me what you experience. Where it comes from, you can’t tell me, because you don’t see it. If I went straight into your story with you, the two of us could get lost together.

Rico’s words

And if you then go along with people, you go on a journey with them where the two of you get lost together.

Rico Brunner, workshop

Usually, after the overview, it turns out that your questions lie exactly in the areas where I see something in the field. Then we talk about it, with the sketch between us.

The sequence at a glance

You choose how to beginYou talk first, or I look at your field first.
The overviewI look at your field as a whole: how it works together and how much it can bear.
From top to bottomHead, heart, belly, knees, feet. For each area I write down keywords.
Your questionsI place them on the sketch and answer them from what I see.
You decideWhat you make of it and whether you come back.

A stick figure on a sheet of paper

In every session I draw a simple stick figure and write keywords next to it. That gives me my bearings for the whole conversation. You notice little of it. Still, I keep to a fixed sequence.

Rico’s words

People don’t notice it, but I have a strict sequence.

Rico Brunner, workshop

I go from top to bottom. First the head, that is, the mind. Then the heart with the feelings. Then the belly, where I see trust. The knees are about how you assert yourself and how long you stick with something. Down at the feet lies the foundation: how stable your life stands and whether there is enough strength for a change.

First: an overview of the whole field from top to bottom Headmind Heartfeelings Bellytrust Kneesassertiveness, staying power Feetfoundation, footing keywords for each area
This is what my sketch looks like before the keywords are in place. What is meant are areas of the energy field, not parts of the body; by the knees I don’t mean your knees. Schematic.

Not every area gives as much to talk about. Where an area is calm, I hardly have any questions there. Where something catches my attention, there can be a great many, sometimes hundreds. That is why the sketch is not a template. If I looked at every person in exactly the same way, I would arrive at wrong results.

Why do I write all of this down? So that I don’t have to remember anything and can be fully with you.

Rico’s words

And that is why, when you write it down, you have an overview.

Rico Brunner, workshop

If, in the middle of the conversation, you suddenly start talking about something completely different, this way I don’t lose the thread. And if something fundamental changes during the conversation, I take a new sheet and draw again.

Then your questions

With the overview on the sheet, we turn to what is on your mind. If you tell me about something that is bothering you, I add the keyword and look at where it has its place in the field. That way we see together how what you experience connects with what I see in the field.

Sometimes I don’t answer the exact words of your question, but what you mean. Sometimes I also say that I can’t answer a question the way it is put, because it leads in a wrong direction. Then we first look for the question that fits you. How much I say at once, and why, is described under How I tell you what I see.

One sequence for every situation

Some come during a hard phase and first of all want to understand what is going on with them. Others have built a lot and want to know where it holds and where it wobbles. Others again want to move forward, in their work, in a relationship or in themselves, and ask where their strength lies. Often it is all of these at once, in different areas of life.

The sequence stays the same for everyone. The sketch is different every time.

After the session

Whether and when you come back is up to you. I don’t set a fixed number of sessions. Some come once, some I accompany over a longer time.

Rico’s words

And that it is also clear that the people you accompany, you accompany some for longer, others for less long, and that this is a personal decision and has nothing to do with yourself.

Rico Brunner, workshop

If someone goes a different way after a while, that is fine. If you have The Field (remote energy work) at the same time, you can also take a session alongside it. How the two fit together is described under Understanding in the session, working in The Field.

During the session, you are welcome to take notes. That way you can later check what we discussed against your everyday life. What we discuss stays confidential. And if you would rather not come alone, you can bring someone with you.

You don’t get a summary or a recording after the session, and follow-up questions afterwards are not part of it. Whatever matters to you, it is best to write it down during the session and to ask while we are talking.

How much time should pass until the next session is different for each person. But one thing applies to everyone: coming more often does not bring more.

Questions that come up often

Do I have to tell you what is going on?
No. You can tell me, or you can let me look first. Both are right.
Why don’t you go straight to my question?
Because I first want to see the whole field. What you experience does not always show where it comes from. With the overview, we find your question in the field more precisely.
What do you look at from top to bottom?
Areas of your energy field: mind, feelings, trust, assertiveness and staying power, the foundation. Parts of the body are not what is meant.
Is the sequence the same by phone and by video?
Yes. I read your field from a distance just the same. More under One session, three forms.
How often should I come?
That is up to you. There is no fixed number.

Where to go next

How I tell you what I see, and why I don’t say everything at once, is described under How I tell you what I see. Where the session ends and the daily work on the field begins is explained in Understanding in the session, working in The Field.
