Why I work in a process-oriented way
Perhaps you would like to tell me what I should work on with you. Even so, I don’t set your energy field a goal, not even if you wish for one. I work in a process-oriented way.
How I work · working process-oriented
I don’t set your energy field a goal. I follow what it needs next.
Every step is still planned, only the plan always reaches exactly one step ahead.
What goal-oriented would mean
Working in a goal-oriented way would mean that I set a result and work toward it. Then I decide for your energy field where it should go, and force it in a direction I have chosen. That is the path to manipulation.
That applies even when the goal is well meant, and it applies even when you wish for it for yourself. What matters is how the work is done.
On top of that comes something that can’t be seen from the outside. A goal usually concerns one part of the energy field. But the energy field consists of many parts that belong together. If one part becomes strong faster than the others, tension arises between them.
A tree with a good trunk and a beautiful crown full of apples, but without roots, looks strong from the outside. A single gust of wind is enough to throw it off balance, because what holds it is missing below the ground.
What process-oriented means
Process-oriented means that I follow the process your energy field is going through itself. I read what it needs next and support exactly that.
The energy field also determines where I work, in what order and how fast. For your energy field, my work is like a tailwind; it walks the path itself.
The energy field determines the timing, not my plan. Whatever it can take in, it draws in of its own accord and builds in itself when the time fits. The movement comes from within; I don’t pull. After an impulse, the system keeps working on its own, and that is another reason it takes time.
This way the energy field is supported as a whole, and not a single part at the expense of the others. In the long run, I find this is always the better way.
“Ethical means supporting someone on the path their own system is taking.”
Rico Brunner
Goal-oriented
- I set a result.
- I determine the direction.
- It is usually about one part of the energy field.
- If that part grows faster than the others, tension arises.
Process-oriented
- I read what comes next.
- Your energy field determines the place, the order and the pace.
- The whole is supported.
- The movement comes from within.
Less is more
“Less is more, but in the right place.”
Rico Brunner
An energy field can develop best when it is slightly underchallenged. If I work faster than it allows, I put a strain on other parts of the energy field. That is why I would rather do a little in the right place every day than a lot once in a while.
If an energy field is overloaded, I calm it first, before I do any further work. That, too, is a step in the process and not a goal. If calm itself were the goal, no matter what happens along the way, I would be suppressing something instead of supporting the energy field.
As I describe it, schematic and without measurement.
This form grew out of experience. In the past, I accompanied people in longer sessions and noticed that a lot at once often overloads an energy field. Today, in The Field, I work a little every day and build on it the next day. Because an energy field is constantly changing, also through what you experience, I look afresh every day at where it stands today.
I build up an energy field step by step. In between, I deliberately stop for a short while and look at what already holds on its own strength. Whatever does not hold yet goes back one step. I keep working there before the next step comes. If I worked straight through without ever looking, weak spots could stay hidden until life puts on more pressure one day.
I don’t even steer toward stability. It arises along the way when the many processes in the energy field work together.
Still, every step is planned
Process-oriented does not mean working without a plan. Before I work on a spot, I play through what this step would set off. That way I don’t have to try things out on the energy field. In doing so, I check whether I strengthen a spot, whether I bring it back into function or whether I had better do nothing. The work only happens once the simulation is right.
What makes the difference is where the expected result comes from: I read it from the energy field and don’t set it from outside. The simulation only ever reaches one step ahead. That is why I can’t tell you where our work together leads in the end, and I don’t promise you any particular outcome.
“I only know what the next steps are.”
Rico Brunner
And your own goals?
Those are something else. In your life, you may set yourself goals, and there is nothing wrong with that, because what I describe here applies only to the work on your energy field. Where you want to go in life is a separate question, and it is covered under Your development journey.
Whether things are hard, or you want to hold on or move forward
If a lot is hard right now, the next step is often to first bring some calm into your energy field. If you want to hold on to what you have achieved, I use the short pauses in the work to look at what already holds on its own strength. If you want to move forward, I follow what your energy field can take in next, even if you would have wished for a different start. In all three cases, I first read what your energy field needs right now, and follow that.
Questions that come up often
- Can I tell you what you should work on?
- You can tell me anything, and I take it seriously. Where I work, I still read from your energy field.
- Does process-oriented mean you work without a plan?
- No. I play through every step beforehand. The work only happens once the simulation is right.
- Can you tell me where it leads in the end?
- No. I only ever see the next step, and I don’t promise a particular outcome.
- Why do you only do a little each day?
- Because an energy field can develop best when it is slightly underchallenged. A lot at once puts a strain on other parts.
- What if something doesn’t hold?
- Then it goes back one step at that spot, and I keep working there. That is part of the method and does not cost the whole way.
- May I set goals for myself?
- Yes. What I describe here applies only to the work on your energy field. Where you want to go in life is up to you.
Where to go next
There are two things I never do in all this. Why I don’t send energy comes next, under No foreign energy. Why I don’t force an energy field into a shape is described under No manipulation. Why the path does not run straight is described under Your development journey. In the Energyology model, the same thought appears as guiding principle L1, “The energy field sets the direction, not me.”
What the pace in The Field (remote energy work) looks like, day by day, is described under Why your field sets the pace.
